Water
Eco-hydrology, Fluvial Geomorphology, Hydrogeology, Snow Hydrology,
Water Resources and Water Policy are important components of our Geosciences research agenda.
Water related investigations are supported by complementary
research activities in Forest Engineering, Civil and Environmental
Engineering, Crop and Soil Science, Bioengineering, the
Center for Water and Environmental Sustainability, and
the College of Liberal Arts. There is an active Hydrophiles
community on campus that shares regular seminars, research
projects, and a supportive
curricular program. Specialized multi-disciplinary
research groups focus efforts on several research areas
including ecological
aspects of watershed processes; geophysical
aspects of watershed process, Transboundary
water studies, and Hydrogeology.
Many Geosciences faculty members are also involved with the Watershed Processes Group on campus. Oregon State University is also a part of the Universities Partnership for Transboundary Waters. The department of Geosciences is also involved in the cross-disciplinary Water Resources Graduate Program at Oregon State.
There are also strong linkages with the OSU Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology (EBB) program.
Geosciences faculty who advise students in this field
include Grant, Haggerty,
Jones, Lancaster,
Nolin, Wildenschild
and Wolf. Prospective
students are invited to examine faculty specific research
activity through connections found in the
Faculty
section of our website. Perusing the Student
Theses and Student
Publications sections provides evidence of specific
directions of water research over time. |
