Volcanology, Petrology and Economic Geology

Research Website

Oregon State University has a robust research community working in the cognate fields of Volcanology, Igneous Petrology and Economic Geology (VIPER). Their research covers a range of topics including mantle melting, continental magmatism and volcanism, volcanic gases, ore deposits, and planetary volcanism. Faculty in the Department of Geosciences who commonly supervise students in research include de Silva, Dilles , Grunder, Kent, Nielsen, and Tepley. Additional expertise is found in the College of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences where Graham, Duncan, Fisk, and Keller hold academic appointments.
